Medicinal Marijuana
Jne_Uwambe asked:

They say weed is a drug, it alters your mind, but at the same time it relieves pain, and gives a sense of happiness.

So I wonder, is marijuana poisonous plant of some kind or a medicinal herb-type plant that maybe the ancients used before white man outlawed it.

Marijuana, like many other plants, has more than one use, one of which is medicinal.

  2. Cam_LS says:

It is neither poisonous nor medicinal. It contains a chemical called THC which can be used as a pain reliever in medical conditions, but it doesn’t cure or treat anything. Although it is not poisonous, smoking anything will eventually cause damage to your lungs.

    Cannabis is useful for;
    anti-emetic
    anti-nausea
    anti-spasmodic
    pain relief
    depression
    insomnia
    appetite stimulant
It also slows down cell reproduction, viruses etc

    Cannabis can negatively affect;
    Brain development
    PRE-EXISTING mental illness
    anxiety
    shaking or type of shakes
lung development and efficiency if smoked.

Weigh up these and you decide.
Many people use it medicinally or recreationally.
it can be used to create rope, clothes, biodegradle plastics and fuel.
A very useful, or potentially hazardous plant, you decide.

Most medicinal compounds can have a negative effect if used by the ignorant for non-medicinal purposes.

Ex’s: Digitalis – Heart medication or lethal poison? Yes.
Tobacco – fungicide or carcinogen? Yes.
Lettuce – stupid vegetable or mild opiate? Yes.

Many perception-altering substances have been used by indigenous peoples for specific reasons. The substance’s use tended to be limited to certain groups of people during certain times of the year for festivals/rituals- in other words, they were not for general consumption, and were used in such a way as to not get addicted to them. Access to the drug (used here to refer to the substance, but not as in ‘illegal narcotic’) tended to be limited by means of taboo- an important part of many indigenous cultures. The culture present in the US has no taboos; idiots are willing to try to eat lethal plants for a “high,” because there is nothing ingrained in thier culture that will stop them. Thus the inception of making possession/use illegal. Don’t misunderstand me- some are probably made illegal for capitalist reasons (to think otherwise would be naive).
So, would you listen if I said, “don’t eat this plant, it is bad,” or would it be simplier if I made it “illegal?”

both the labels you describe are just perceptions of facts(or lies).

do some research on the facts of marijuana.

i wouldn’t ask people on this site for answers on this issue lol.
too many people have skewed views on this plant.

but my personal opinion is its the most useful medicine on the planet.
if it were legal everyone could grow free medicine instead of having to take all these pills that kill thousands.

Marijuana is one of the safest therapeutic plants out there. It’s safer than potatoes, for god’s sake. If you eat 10 raw potatoes, you will die because they’re poisonous raw. If you eat a ton of marijuana, you might get really high, but you will not overdose. You cannot overdose on marijuana. You can die of alcohol poisoning, you cannot die from pot poisoning.

In addition, marijuana does not have a negative effect on the lungs. Well, it does, but only if you hold it in for significantly longer than you’re supposed to, to the point you’re no longer comfortable. The natural medicinal qualities about it counter the smoke effects.

Contrary to popular belief, marijuana is not a gateway drug. It is merely the most widely used drug, and so many people will end up starting with it, coming in to contact with it first, or encountering it while looking for other drugs to experiment with. It does not make people necessarily crave a bigger high from a more dangerous drug.

Marijuana does not have a long-term effect on the brain that is damaging. The only IQ differences measured in people who smoke pot compared to people who don’t smoke pot are in people who smoke pot 5 or more times per week. If one quits smoking pot, the effect on their IQ will go away with time. In fact, it is shown when used lightly to increase cognitive function of the brain.

Marijuana does not make car crashes more likely, when compared to people dying from alcohol. There are often instances where THC is found in the body of someone who gets in a car crash, but THC stays in the body for about a month, and it stops having effects on the body long before that.

The court document that documents the congress/house ruling on legalizing marijuana was so small that, in the library of congress, they lost it because the entire file got lost by falling in to a crack in the wood of the book case. It was tiny. Essentially doctors said there was no evidence saying it was harmful but the congressmen didn’t listen because they were prejudiced about it (didn’t want to believe it was harmless) and they didn’t believe the scientist.

Everyone talks about how you damage your lungs with marijuana. JUST VAPORIZE.

I vaporize marijuana, its just using heated air to decarboxylate and vaporize the THC and other cannabinoids without burning the plant material. Bottom line? You can get high with NO smoke and lung damage moving marijuana up as the absolute hands down most non-dangerous drug that exists.

No one even mentions CBD, the other cannabinoid that is just as important as THC. Heres what wikipedia had to say about CBD:

“Medically, it appears to relieve convulsion, inflammation, anxiety, and nausea, and to inhibit cancer cell growth.[4] Recent studies have shown cannabidiol to be as effective as atypical antipsychotics in treating schizophrenia.[5]

In November 2007 it was reported that CBD reduces growth of aggressive human breast cancer cells in vitro and reduces their invasiveness. It thus represents the first non-toxic exogenous agent that can lead to down-regulation of tumor aggressiveness.[6][7] It is also a neuroprotective antioxidant.[8]”

Cant overdose. Not chemically addictive. Relives pain. No smoke inhalation damage. Been used for as long as humans have walked upright. Inhibits cancer cell growth. Relieves convulsions, inflammation, anxiety, and nausea. Oh yeah, and just throwing it in there, its also a neuroprotective antioxidant so it keeps your braincells from dying.
