Medicinal Marijuana
Silly 🙂 asked:

I have to debate against medicinal marijuana. Any suggestions on what points I could make?
I don’t necessarily agree with making it illegal, which is why I need help! 🙁

Everybody caught using marijuana will say it’s medical. . . it will be more easily accesable. . . people will abuse the purpose, young children may have easier access to it…

cons to it would be that it could cause an influx in prescription fraud for people trying to get it for recreational purposes.

There are already medications that treat people with the same medical benefits of marijuana, therefore there really isn’t much of a need.

though, I honestly believe (and I don’t use drugs) that it should be legalized in a very limited manner for situations where a patient cannot use another way to help with chronic pain.

Good luck on that one, but if you had to pick some sticking points, you could use the fact that the patient would need to inhale the smoke…the counter to that, however, is that the THC can be ingested via a method/product called a vaporizer, which reduces the negative aspects of it. Another counter to that argument could be that it can be used in baked goods to deliver the same affect. Being someone who supports the legalization, I’ve heard many counters to my opinion, and not a single one of them makes a lick of sense to me.

Ask yourself this: is it better to ingest a man-made chemical compound to reduce pain, or is it better to use a chemical that the earth provides?

medicinal marijuana is already legal in california and canada. and, yes, everyone seems to have glaucoma these days, lol. the truth is, marijuana IS extremely psychologically addicting and if you smoke a lot of high grade stuff, physically as well. (i know 4 people, including myself, who have successfully been able to quit heroin, but not a single person who could completely stop smoking) and, it totally messes with your brain’s chemistry. i think one in 4 smokers develop a personality disorder (especially schizoid) and it increases chances of developing schizophrenia. that’s why most potheads are definitely a little “off.”

BUT, that could also be said about a lot of the medications that are legally prescribed by doctors, but pharmaceutical companies can make money off of their synthesized heroin & etc, so that’s what they give you vs marijuana, which you can just grow in your house. so, yeah, that’s the real reason why it’s being fought against as medicine…. those companies have all the money & donate billions to political campagnes and lobby doctors
