I had a few problems with my garden so I went and had a chat with Justin from Green Planet Nutrients about my issues. Changing bulbs and feeding my plants for better growth with this new HP…
I was wondering if I would notice a difference. Wow what a difference!
Just think you were using the same amount of electricity. Now you getting
your $s worth. That is why I am always replacing every 6 months. I hear
you though, it gets expensive and like a dirty windshield your don’t
realize how bad it is til you do something about it. lol
The manufacture says that 20ml/gallon will increase your PPM by 400ppm.
You mentioned that you are 630ppm when you finished mixing your batch.
That seems low. Of course you did say that the container you were using
held 160ml which means that you used less than 20ml a gallon. Forgive me
for saying this but when was the last time you calibrated/clean your
probe? I know that when using probes that sit in nute solution, they can
become inaccurate over time as particles become attached to the sensors.
lmoa, that is a massive airstone! You mentioned that is a 50 liter tote.
However it is not full so it really has 40 liters? Since you are using
organics nute burn is probably not an issue, however you could be saving
20% of your nutrient cost.
Please tell us more about the Bug be gone product. I was looking it up but
there are a few. I’m assuming it is organic. It is kinda shocking that it
messed up your fan leaves that badly. I don’t have that problem with
azomax. Maybe because you sprayed with the lights on? For some products
that can make a difference.
John, I was looking up the Massive product. The manufacture recommends that
you cut back your base nutes by 20%. I’m a little annoyed that I can’t
readily find the complete ingredient list of the green planet products. I
was trying to look up that word that you mentioned. tri something. Could
you direct me to that information? Anyways, the product claims to increase
the plants capacity to absorb CO2. Do I need to increase my CO2 levels
then? Or is it just more efficient with the CO2 already present? I like
watching hot girls as much as the next guy but her informational video was
not very informative. I’ll watch it again just to make sure I didn’t miss
anything though 😉
You said you feed/water/water. I usually feed/water. Maybe not so
important in veg but maybe push it a little during peak bloom? I also add
zyme, sugars, calcium, fulvic acid, wetting agent, super thrive (i know old
school), a small pinch of Epson salts, and a kelp extract during the water
cycle. I know it sounds like a lot but I reduce the recommended ml of
calcium by .5. My PPM are less than 200 with RO water. Only for coco
though. I would drop the calcium fro the peat based promix.
Good stuff man keep up the good work, I see your blue lab meter on the wall
with the top number flashing looks like it needs calibration of your
probes, the numbers blink when they need to be calibrated, I have found its
about once a month they need recalibration
Bro, you talking about your accident and seeing you push around those nutes
bottles makes me wince. We need to get you some pumps on those bottles.
Just squirt into a measuring glass as needed. Also I buy the 5 gallons too
but I transfer to my 1 gallons as needed. Not trying to shake a 5 gallon
container any more than I need to. Use a funnel from the dollar store (do
they got those in Canada? j/k) I usually wait til I got a friend to help
but in a pinch I duct tape the funnel to the 1 gallon, brace it between a
few bricks so it wont tip over and make sure that I don’t put the weight of
the 5 gallon on the funnel on the 1 gallon. Also pouring from the side
seems to create a smoother pour for me. Works better for rectangular
bottles. For the square like 5 gallon containers, I pour from the corner
of the bottle.
I find that when growing more vertical plants where I’m not lolly popping ,
the vertical orientated bulbs with a small reflector on top works best, aka
Remo’s style of growing. Horizontal bulbs are best when you have a solid
uniform canopy IMO.
I think your deficiencies maybe due to the pots not staying moist enough
pal, have you read my other comments on your other videos that maybe useful,
but I don’t think thats the answer here,if you allow the media to dry, wet
to dry method, the pots become toxic with salts quickly but is also easy to
wash.Basically coco likes to stay moist, and fed through the centre
daily, like hydro,it is soiless media, so I guess it enjoys replenishing
with fresh nutes regularly, peace bro
Great video! I was looking forward to you sharing your nut regimen. I wish
it was under better circumstances i.e. your garden was healthy, lol.
However I learn the most when the solving the eventual problems that arise
from trying new methods. A quick thought, have you thought of mixing your
nuts in a smaller container of water before adding it to your res? Usually
not a prob for me but I notice when using certain powders that premixing in
water before adding seems to produce a more homogenous solution and reduce
the clumping that occasionally happens.

I was gonna say…Why is John gardening without smoking a joint? lol It is
always good to get the math out the way before lighting up. ;)
Good technique using the box to hold the bulb. You did that hella quick.

How are you diffusing the CO2 in your room?

Why does the zyme come in a capsule. If I need 1/2 a cap I’m suppose to
break it open? I like the powder version better.
Thank you very much, very informational!
