this is the one time i don’t agree with jorge. hanging your plants upside down isn’t for immediate drying.. but it doesn’t cause uneven drying. because you nee d to have a cure period. and i know saying this to you jorge. is a far fetched statement i hang my paltns for aethetics. it doesn’t make much a diference when smoking. and also. it isn’t hard for a man to trim bud thats been dried upside down. its only hard for the machine to trim leaves that dried inwards
Thank you sir! Common sense goes a long way too. I shouldn’t be such an ass sometimes, that’s one of my biggest faults. It’s hard for me not to call bullshit when somebody makes a ludicrous statement like the “botanist” did. But it’s not important. Have a great day 🙂
As an addendum to my reply..you said “I know what it takes for cell production – metabolism and respiration,”…these are three very different things. Metabolic activity, and respiration are one thing, but cell production is quite a different thing.Of course water transpires after being cut, and this is in a sense, “metabolic” activity, but after a short time (hours) growth stops. Once the plant wilts, “growth” has ceased. That’s a fact Mr Botanist!
It is a well known fact that in vascular plants, particulary plants with Phloem, continue to grow after being cut…the Phloem contains everything the plant needs, ie “sucrose”, water, etc., I suggest seaching google..as an example, “do tulips continue to grow after being cut”…you will get your answer.
I like how no one just enjoys the information and moves on. There always has to be a know-it-all like bruteresistance that has to correct everyone because he has seen it all. Go step your game up homie because Jorge has been around before you prob took your first smoke.
You are wrong, and nothing you say will make it not so. Here’s an example of why I say you are wrong. I the case of a clone (cutting), yes there is metabolic activity, but “growth” stops, for about two weeks until new roots are formed. but this takes ideal conditions for the plant to accomplish. In the case of “a bud” being cut, and left to dry (die), all metabolic activity essential to “growth” stops within a few short hours, as too much moisture transpires. Sorry, but you’re no “botanist”.
Look moron, the original comment I replied to by teekofa was that buds will grow for four days after being cut. This is false. Yes,cuttings will live in a “dome” but they will be useless and die if you cut them, and leave them for four days to dry out. Re-read my post and then pull your head out of your ass. Buds do NOT grow for four days after being hung to dry. You people are clueless.
the big fan leaves should allways be removed. what some old heads do is leave the small leafs on. the “sugar leaf/ trim” is what its known as. this is the stuff used to make b.h.o or hash because of the high resin content where as the fan leafs have almost 0% thc
Nothing wrong with doing that as long as you do a proper cure after they dry. However, you will notice that the aroma of the dried/cured bud will not be as strong or desirable. But it can be done with little degradation to the “high”. A slow dry is preferable, but in a pinch for some quick buds to smoke it is perfectly acceptable.
@ bruteresistance…It just so happens that I do know about “plant chemistry”, and as a Botanists, I know what it takes for cell production – metabolism and respiration, which absolutely continues for a time after a plant has been cut down and left intact.
If you flush your plants properly, there wouldn’t be any nutrients left at all, and when you harvest your plants they should be very thirsty (not totally dried out ) if you know what i mean ?
you’re right bro… those university “botanists” just with a diploma think they know everything but i say practice makes perfect and experience is our most beloved friend.
i undestand you because it makes me angry also when i’m sure of something and someone starts to talk bullshit about that for the sake of having something to say or just plain show-off i guess… I grow for 2 years now and in these 2 years i can back up your statement to be true and tell the same thing you told that “botanist”. even if cells continue to duplicate it is in such a small and celular scale that we barelly notice.
plants evap. water through ..lets just say for you tube sake..the green parts. its kinda like a human dosent only sweat from his hand but his ass too. so your theory on keeping the”water leaves” on to remove moisture from the bud by way of the leaf is completely nonsensical and its OVERTHINKING the plant…shit works alot simpler than that bro…if nature had to compute every time it made a move wed all still be living in the stone age…keep it simple and shell produce great quality and quanity
Botanist is wrong ! I grow too. The buds will not grow after they are cut. But the plant will try to pull out the remaining moisture to survive. Brut is right. So lets end this back and forth non sense. It is also best to trim the buds and let them dry without leaves. The leaves make the bud taste harsh. Also it is easy to trim a green soft stem verses a hard woody dry stem. But hey it’s your weed do what ever you please. I
There is no point to Google anything about “tulips”. What you said “the buds will get about 4 days extra growth while drying” is false. I’ve been growing weed for over forty years, and I know better. I still maintain, you are full of shit. Have a nice day.
Usually people read the comments they are replying to before they reply. Maybe you should try it…moron. And if you know your ass from a hole in the ground, then you know I’m right. Piss off!

Good point. I didn’t think about that!

Nice bud drying video I got to get me one of those hanging dry bags 😀
Damn! I can only imagine the smell in that room!
We dry the same pretty much except we keep our temps lower around 65-70 and rh around 55%

I get a much better end product by hanging large manicured branches verses the baskets, but i’m not dealing with large amounts either.
If you flush your plants properly, there wouldn’t be any nutrients left at all, and when you harvest your plants they should be very thirsty (not totally dried out ) if you know what i mean ?
only thing with the basket is the buds get bedhead
you’re right bro… those university “botanists” just with a diploma think they know everything but i say practice makes perfect and experience is our most beloved friend.
I’d love to see a video example Todd, I’m sure others agree. 🙂

We love you Jorge!!
