I’ve always been for it, but is seems that it’s just NOW becoming favored. Is there a particular reason for this?

Freedom of choice is popular. People are starting to see what a waste the drug war has been.

  3. justmyopinions says:

Cultural changes and $$$$$ for the government…and no one in the history of the planet has ever overdosed on it. It is impossible.

It is pretty much legal here in Massachusetts now. For under 1 ounce they give you a simple $100 ticket. This question that changed the law here passed in every single town in MA except for 2. It was an overwhelming majority last November.
Traffic violations are now more serious.

  4. Brutus says:

Probably just because it has been recently discussed in the media.

  5. zzsleepur says:

Probably because bozo admits to using cocaine and MJ before.

Seriously….I do not see it….most people I know are against it. Only two people I know do it…and they are gay! Not saying all gay people do it…but those are the only two I know that admit it and use it.

Depends on where and how this poll was taken…you do know they are usually biased.

I also know a lot of AMERICANS that want the country to return to values and morals and stop the dependency on alcohol and drugs. It is hurting our children….and you dems do not understand that.

MONEY!!! This country needs money. There is an entire industry that the government is not collecting taxes on and they want their share. That’s all it is. No one really cares about glaucoma patients.

  7. Moe says:

Waste of time and money to enforce the use of a drug whose side effects are hungry and happy.

A lot of the people in power are from my generation where pot was massively used to ‘Turn on, tune in, and drop out.’ There’s little bad about pot.

i agree.. the economy.. there has been lots of research on the effects of marijuana and yes it may affect the memory but does not cause cancer and death.. so why on earth are things like nicotine and alcohol legal and weed is not?? Roll it up, box it up and tax it like cigarettes.. It would definitely boost the economy..

Munchies may add to the obesity epidemic.. but if alcohol and cigarettes are legal.. hey, why not??

Well, the worse the democrats make things, the more people want to do a few onehitters to forget the mess we are in.

  12. Joe in texas says:

It is a total waste of taxpayers money to arrest, prosecute, and incarcerate drug users especially pot smokers.

This country was founded on Liberty. If you want to smoke weed it should be nobody else’s business.

Marijuana is less harm full than many prescription drugs on the market now.

  13. Jonathan says:

The Republicans are the party of covert privilege. Marijuana prohibition is a covert privilege of the alcohol and tobbaco industry. Republicans are losing the power to protect that privilege.

To understand the dynamics of why the two parties seperate on lines of covert and overt privilege please look at the best answer here:

Yes. It is kind of like the abortion debate long ago. The liberals think it would be a good idea to legalize it regardless of how it might be abused. Actually, although I am not a liberal, I also believe it would be wise to do so. Better to control and tax it than to not have any control over it at all. Also, it has been shown to be beneficial for health reasons for some people as well.

The Mexican drug cartels would hate it if we controlled the sale and use of it though. They would not be able to sell their products here…because if we can sell it legally, we can also raise it legally. What a boone for the farming industry….and we could take away the Mexican cartels power at the same time.

The internet is the reason why it is gaining popularity. The FCC controls T.V. and radio so only the government information was being brought to the people. Now everyone has the ability to express there opinions without fear to the whole world and gather like they never could before. It is by far the best political tool we have today. Now there are many people and organizations educating people on the truth of Marijuana and how to help change the laws regarding cannabis.
